Summer Baby

This is what 3 and a half looks like.. (a lot of sass.) Opossum was less than thrilled to participate in these pictures- she’s kind of a snob and has never even had a bath in the yard (only in our tub or shower.) So she was mostly irritated at me. Briley, on the other hand, was in heaven. She didn’t want it to end. I have to brag on her a bit.. she’s getting better and better about taking pictures. She was the typical photographers child and was LESS than cooperative most of the time. (Which I’m sure stems from a mom who did full blown sessions with her 2-3 times a week for the first full year of her life.) But now she constantly asks for me to take pictures of her. In fact, it was about this time last year when she first started doing that. But with this cooperation, also comes attitude. By attitude I mean… faces… and poses. You’ll see a “squishy” face that she makes CONSTANTLY whenever I’m taking pictures of her. (Basically her version of “duck face” I believe.) She also likes to throw in a few of her own poses. On this day she actually went into “model mode” and saying “POSE…. POSE…. POSE..” as she continued to strike several different sassy poses in a row. I just stopped and watched.. in AW. B can vouch for this.. he was there to witness this little session.

I loved this little swim suit I bought her a couple of months ago and had been wanting to do some fun summery pictures of her for awhile now.  I sure you mothers get the same joy when you dress up your baby boy but I think we all agree that, dressing up the little girls is much more fun. This was a spur of the moment session where I grabbed up a few things, recruited B and ran outside before anyone could change their mind. I have several new favorites from this session and have already ordered a few big prints for the house. Always love sessions with Briley and Opossum together. (I want to put a book together of just sessions of them together.) We thought we were going to lose Opossum when Briley was just 5 months old.. it was a rough time. But she made a miraculous recovery and we are thankful everyday for it. I remember thinking, I never had a chance to do any “good” pictures of Briley with her. Only snap shots with our phones. Once she was out of the woods I vowed to do pictures with them together as often as possible. They are best buds (with an occasional love/hate relationship) ;) .. and I want to remember all of this when Briley is grown and Opossum is gone. We got Opossum the day we came home from our honeymoon. She was our first baby. ;) She is turning 8 the end of this month… and Briley was officially 3.5 as of a little over 2 weeks ago. Our babies are growing up!

Just a reminder.. I’ll be out of the office Friday-Monday. (I’ll be returning some emails Monday and then back in the office Tuesday.) Looking forward to some down time and some time off for the first time in 8 months!
