School Girl

Mary had a little lamb. Briley had a Mini Horse… who followed her to school one day. ;)

My sweet girl has asked to go to school for over a year now… and the time has finally come. She officially starts school (a couple days a week) in September. I’ve never seen a kid so excited about getting to carry a lunchbox, or having “homework.” I’ve had to hide her nap mat because she wants to sleep on the floor, on her mat instead of her bed. Briley has always stayed at home with me during the day. Usually B is home by the time I have sessions each day, or she stays with a grandparent. So this will be the first time time I’ll be without her during the week and I can already tell you it’s going to feel so strange for the first few weeks! I’m sure I’ll adapt though. ;) I don’t think Briley will cry.. in fact, she’ll probably cry when I pick her up because she won’t want to leave. ;)

But of course with this big milestone comes the need for a quick photo shoot. I don’t know what happened to MY kid, who absolutely hated having her picture taken.. but this new kid, who BEGS for mama to “do her pictures,” has been a nice little change. :)

ALSO, yesterday we celebrated out wedding anniversary! Last week B surprised me with my early anniversary present. Meet Huckleberry. He’s a 3 year old mini horse and he has stolen my heart! I’ve always wanted a mini and B knows that. So when he asked me a couple of weeks ago, what I wanted for our anniversary, I joked, “a miniature horse!!” never expecting him to actually bring one home. But to my surprise, Huck showed up at the house. Briley has officially hi-jacked my gift.. and thanks us daily (multiple times) for HER horse. If she catches anyone referring to him as MY horse, she is quick to correct them.. “OUR horse. Huck is OUR horse.” ;) He’s such a sweetheart and we love him already.

A few favorites from her “school pictures,” and of our newest family member, Huckleberry.

Then theres this. Depressing. On the left… October 2010 (10 months old). On the right… August 2013 (3 years, 8 months). Same desk, same Briley.. almost 3 years difference. She was such a chunk and I LOVED it.
