My Projects

I took a little time off and spent this weekend working on a couple of different projects. One being re-doing a dresser for the house. We’ve had this yellow dresser for as long as I can remember. It was in my room when I lived at home when I was younger. Mom gave it to me last year and I had been meaning to do something with it but just now got around to it. On Saturday, B helped me move it out into the shop where I cleaned it up, removed the hardware and painted the dresser and the hardware. Then Sunday (today) we put everything back together. It looks like a completely different piece. The original plan was to paint it turquoise and put it in Briley’s room.. but she already has too much furniture as it is so it may end up elsewhere in the house. I’ve got several more pieces to paint but they may have to wait for cooler weather.. which is probably when I’ll have enough time to get back out there and paint anyway. If I wasn’t a photographer, THIS is what I would do. I LOVE taking antiques and turning them into something funky and unique. :)

BEFORE (it was stained with a yellow tint and you could see some wood grain through the finish)

Hardware was gold but very worn.

AFTER (fresh coat of TURQUOISE paint and the old hardware painted glossy black)

Also did a couple of small things while I had everything out. This is my jewelry tree I bought at Canton. It WAS mint green but I spray painted it glossy black. (It’s upside down here.)

Mom helped and painted too little chairs I had too. Then when she finished those she started looking around the shop and found an old chandelier I had forgotten about… (I think I have 8 or 9 now.. scattered in 3 different locations… I think I’m hoarding.) ;) She decided to paint it glossy black too since I already had an extra can. :) Now I just have to find all the little crystals I took off of it for safe keeping!
