Kyah Grace’s Birth

Same hospital, same room, same family.. but a little over 2 years later. I photographed this families first born in February 2011, but it was a completely different experience than it was this time. This go around, they were welcoming a sweet little girl into their family.. and her entrance was a little less dramatic. If you didn’t see Kannon’s birth, you can find that HERE and you can view his birth video, HERE. Kyah’s birth was smooth. The room was filled with smiles and laughing most of the night. Crystal went into labor on a Saturday and Saturday night at 10pm I headed to the hospital. 2:14am that next morning, Kyah arrived!! Crystal did so well. Kannon had slept most of the night, in fact he was asleep when I got there and I didn’t see him awake until they brought him in after Kyah was born. When they brought him in, he had just woken up so he was still not fully awake.. but only after about 5 minutes of being in the room with Kyah, he was in love. He asked to hold her by pointing and saying.. “I want that.” Once he had her, he didn’t want to let go. In fact, Crystal’s dad was waiting to hold her and when he asked if he could have her, Kannon said, “NO.” He was so sweet and gentle with her and continued to kiss and hug her for the rest of the time I was there. For a 2 year old who’s had the crazy day he had and to be awoken at 3am to meet this new baby his mommy was holding, I was surprised he was in a good mood, much less as happy and smiley as he was. :)

This was Dr. Carpenter’s last baby before retiring. Number 8,416 (I believe that was the number.) He delivered Crystal AND Bronson.. as well and Kannon. :) I’ve been blessed to work with this family since I started my business, much less to photograph both of their children’s births. It was incredible, the difference between the 2, but neither more of a gift than the other. I look forward to watching Miss Kyah grow up.
