J+J

Shani is a friend of mine who I met awhile back. She is also a photographer in Sanger. We had talked about getting together when Jess came in for a visit but things always came up. Well a couple of months ago we nailed down a date. She wanted to do a shoot with us so she and we tossed around a few ideas but couldn’t decide on anything. Shani brought up the idea of the concept shoots that I do.. after throwing around some ideas of a vintage shoot she immediately starting searching Ebay for clothes and props. Over one of our conversations I mentioned to her about the BIG concept shoot I had. It was THE most important shoot and I had it in the back of my mind forever, but hadn’t carried it out. Everything had to be perfect and I had yet to find some of the elements that I was needing. When I mentioned the theme of the shoot, Shani flipped. We started talking about ideas and how, where and WHEN we could carry all these out. I knew that Shani could pull this part off but I still didn’t have a few elements that I needed for the shoot. Leave it to Shani. This girl tracked down EVERYTHING I needed. She blew my mind and I honestly could not have picked a better person.

So what IS this theme? Well if you know me very well, you know that I have a thing for Johnny Cash. I love old school country. My favorite song of all time is “Crazy,” by Patsy Cline. We even had a cat NAMED Johnny Cash… but when I brought June Carter Cash home from the Vet, they ran away together. No joke. Waylon Jennings however, hung around. :) The theme of the shoot is “Johnny and June.” This was by far the most important shoot to me. I was so anxious on the drive up because everything just had to be perfect. :) I’m so thankful that Shani lit a fire under me to get it done because who knows when I could have done it. I was so afraid that it wouldn’t be perfect that I just kept putting it off. Shani did her homework. :) The best part of the shoot? Shani had the Soundtrack to Walk the Line playing with the car doors open while we were in the field… Shani and Buck were actually singing during the shoot. It was AWESOME. She had her friend Tori videotape everything so that I could make a slideshow with everything. :) I also have to give a big thanks to Buck for cooperating with all of our crazy ideas. Most guys wouldn’t agree to dress in in so many black layers of hot clothing and stand out in a field of tall grass and bugs in 80 degree heat. :) Buck, you rock. Shani, you rock too. :)

Shani’s friend Tori Wells who is a hair stylist at Coyote Salon in Pilot Point, Texas was the hair and makeup stylist for the shoot. She did amazing! :)
