Halloween 2013

So this is Briley’s first year to get to pick her own costume. Yes, I chose my “almost” 3 year olds costume last year. ;) I thought her 2 year old costume would be my last chance, but then I realized last year that if I never ASKED what she wanted to be, technically she’d never know the difference. She was happy with her costume (Shirley Temple) and she’d watched her videos before. She was perfectly happy.. until we were trick-or-treating. We were waiting to cross the street. You know that feeling when the hair on the back of your neck stands up and you KNOW something is about to happen? All of a sudden I realized we were surrounded. Belle to my right… Cinderella in front of us… Snow White to my left and Ariel behind us. Then… it happened. Briley slowly looked around. Then her jaw dropped.. she threw her head back and hollered.. “I WANTED TO BE ARIEL FOR HALLOWEEN!!!!!” Annnnnnddd that is when her daddy looked at me and mouthed, “I TOLD YOU SO!” So this year she knew. Right off the bat, she KNEW what she wanted to be for halloween. A mermaid. But not a regular mermaid. “A PINK AND SPARKLY MERMAID!”

When Briley was little she was never much for sitting still in front of the TV to watch anything. She was always moving non stop. Too busy to sit and watch anything. When she was 18 months old she became a little more interested in watching things. The very first thing that she sat and watched straight through was Beauty and the Beast. I think that started the obsession with the Disney Princesses stage. The 2nd thing she sat and watched straight through was The Little Mermaid (my favorite.) She became OBSESSED with wanting to be a mermaid. She constantly pretends she’s a mermaid in the tub, in the pool.. or just in the living room.

If you missed it, a few months ago I was able to allow her to become an actual mermaid.. and ever since then, she’s been even more obsessed. I started to just let her wear her mermaid costume from the pictures.. but then realized I’d have to carry or pull her around.. and she would hate that.. so I found a “mobile mermaid” costume.. that was exactly what she was asking for. :)

The prettiest mermaid I know:

So depressing. My baby. :( 1st Halloween and 4th Halloween!! 1st Halloween, our “BEAR” was a baby Bear. ;) Full links:
