Candace + Jeremy… Las Vegas, Nevada Wedding
This was actually the first time I’ve ever second shot a wedding, but I lucked out and got to go with Jess in July!! :) The thing about getting to second shoot is that you get to concentrate on all the fun stuff.. (like details.) AND where else to have the best details, than LAS VEGAS?! It was seriously 111 degrees while we were there. No joke. I’ve been to Las Vegas before. B and I went 2 years ago for our 3 year wedding anniversary. One thing people will say about Vegas.. over and over and over.. is “it’s a DRY heat.” (Like thats supposed to make it any better.) I’ll admit that I did notice a difference this time. It’s not humid in Vegas. However, that DOES NOT make it any LESS hot. In fact, while Jess and I were standing in line waiting to take pictures in front of the Vegas sign (and we were both wearing flip flops) I literally thought my feet were going to burst into flame. I DON’T do high temps.. but I think I would almost prefer hot temps to humidity. So it sounds funny to say, but it was actually a fairly nice change to this Northeast Texas humidity.
With that being said, Candace and Jeremy were BEYOND troopers for us. The literally climbed a mountain and hiked down into a canyon for us. Jeremy in a suit and Candace in her wedding dress.. oh yes.. FULL ON TUX AND WEDDING DRESS.. (expect Candace traded in her heels for running shoes.) ;) When I say it was 111 degrees.. I mean, the temperature was 111 degrees but when you are standing in the desert, up on a very tall rock.. (closer to the sun than normal) and there is nothing around but dirt and more rocks.. it feels more like 132 degrees. It was hot. That is actually an understatement. A couple of times when we got out Jess just left the rental car running so we could have the air nice and cold when we jumped back in. :) We went to Red Rock Canyon and it was AMAZING. Jess and I drive out the day before the wedding to check it out. We had SO much fun. We actually hiked down to the exact same area we took Candace and Jeremy to on their wedding day, so we could check it out and make sure we had the best spots. In the process, I fell of course.. but what else is new. It didn’t take long before we were all about to pass out in the desert so we headed back to the strip to Caesar’s Palace, where the wedding and reception were being held.
I didn’t realize how many shots I got of her shoes. This was as much as I could narrow it down on the shoes. ;)
Check out my awesome work on that coat hanger.
Before we met up with Candace, Jess and I did a little shopping in the Forum Shoppes and ate at The Cheesecake Factory and Jess picked up a couple of souvenirs that we used for ring shots.
RED ROCK CANYON!!!
I busted it as I was walking down to get these next few shots.. but I think it was worth it. :)
Candace is so cute. :) I don’t think she EVER stopped smiling!!!!
Soooooo… after the ceremony Jess and I headed to the reception hall. One problem. Caesar’s Palace is probably the largest hotel I have EVER stayed at… AND we got lost. Yep. We got lost on the way to the reception. So of course we are panicing, worrying that the Candace and Jeremy were going to be announced before we were there! SO were RUNNING down the mile long halls of this hotel. Going from floor to floor carrying our lens bags, cameras and each of us with rolling camera bags! LUCKILY I heard some talking and we ran around the corner to see.. TAA DAAAA.. the bride and groom coming up one of the escalators. :) Ironically, they were lost too. :) SO for another 15 minutes we wandered around with Candace, Jeremy and both the bridesmaids trying to find the banquet room we were supposed to be in. At least we were lost WITH the bride and groom. ;)
There was LOTS of dancing at the reception. It was awesome. (This is the grooms mom by the way.) ;)
